Apple Valley Lake East Boat Launch

by Sam Miller

The boating season at Apple Valley is in full swing with dozens of boats already on the water.  During the month of May there will be an increase of lake activity with boats and personal water crafts making their way to the water.  The boat launch near Sutton Beach is the closest boat launch near the front entrance and it is generally more busy.  You may not be aware but there are two more locations at the Apple Valley lake where you can launch your boat.

When you enter Apple Valley at the front entrance just make a right onto Apple Valley Drive and pass the camp ground and in less than a minute you will approach the Apple Valley east boat launch.  At the east launch there are two concrete launch pads and tie areas and an impressive amount of trailer parking area.  This is also a great place to fish along the Apple Valley lake shore.  If you walk directly across the street there is a lake overflow area that is much more shallow than the lake and you are almost guaranteed to experience some fish activity.

Apple Valley Lake Level

by Sam Miller

The lake level is on the rise and it won't be long before there is boating activity on the Apple Valley Lake.  The dam has already been closed for the season in order for the lake level to reach what is known as "full pool" for the upcoming boating season.  Water levels increase each year based on the amount of spring rain we receive.

Before each winter Apple Valley opens the valve on the dam to lower the water level of the lake.  By lowering the water level it enables property owners to more easily perform boat dock and sea wall maintenance.  Lowering the water levels also eliminates ice damage due to the freezing of the lake.

IMPORTANT:  The sales reported during the colder months in Apple Valley (the off season) are rarely worth reporting because Apple Valley is a lake resort style community which doesn't become fully active until we experience the sunnier and warmer weather traditionally associated with boating and swimming.

Apple Valley Lake January 2009 Calendar of Events

Apple Valley Lake Community is often thought of as a Summer time fun in the sun boating, swimming and fishing lake but there is so much more. Apple Valley has activities for property owners all year long ranging from water aerobics, card games, art clubs, garden clubs, dance events and many other fun activities. I have created an online version of the January 2009 calendar of events that is featured in the January issue of the Cider Press.
